Anglo Swiss Nanny Agency - Client Information

Nannies that are qualified will have one of the following:

  • N.N.E.B. – National Nursery Examination Board (Cache Diploma). This is a full-time two year course covering all aspects of development from birth to seven years.
  • N.V.Q. – National and Vocational Qualifications. The N.V.Q.3 is equivalent to the N.N.E.B. and is part college and part workplace based.
  • B.T.E.C. Nursery Nursing – Business and Technician Education Council Nursery Nursing Diploma. Similar to both of the above.
  • Norland, Princess Christian and Chiltern Colleges. Three private colleges where the students are eighteen years plus. The courses are full time residential for two years. Students sit the N.N.E.B. Diploma and R.S.H. (Royal Society of Health).
  • N.A.M.C.W. Diploma – National Association of Maternal and Child Welfare. This is a two year course for students aged sixteen plus.

A qualified nanny is capable of sole charge of a child.
Her Nursery Duties include;

  • Preparing the child’s meals, keeping her/his room tidy and clean and also looking after the child’s clothes.
  • She will promote a happy, loving and stimulating environment.
  • A nanny works between 10-11 hours per day with 1 to 2 days off per week.
  • One or two evenings babysitting per week is possible but any extra is payable and by negotiation between her employer and herself.
  • Four weeks holiday a year is required, often with two weeks at nannies choice and two weeks of the client’s choice.
  • As a nanny may spend a lot of spare time in her room she should have her own bedroom and bathroom with a television and, if possible, a computer.
  • Live-in nannies are happy to travel with the family.
